Made-to-measure garments and suiting, drafted to your pattern and fitted by hand.
Bespoke, made-to-measure garments and wearable art, cut and constructed by hand — drawn from generations of master tailoring, and designed around the woman who will wear them.
Maria Fenton is not simply a fashion designer. She is a master tailor and multidisciplinary artist making bespoke wearable art for women who want to be seen, understood, and beautifully represented.
Crafted for you. Worn as art. Made to last.Every piece begins the same way — with a conversation, a measurement, and a story worth building around.
Made-to-measure garments and suiting, drafted to your pattern and fitted by hand.
Pieces made with the intention of art and exhibited in galleries in New York and DC.
Wardrobe for film, music, and stage — built to move, read, and hold up under light.
Wardrobe consultation, and the restyling of pieces you already love into pieces you'll wear.
I was born into a family that produced generations of master tailors and seamstresses — a lineage running from the Caribbean to Savile Row. I apprenticed under my grandmother, a master seamstress, and learned the things that don't show on a label: patience, precision, and respect for the garment.
By sixteen I was taking custom orders for formal wear and performers in Boston and New York. That work has never really stopped. It has only grown into something larger — a practice where textile, image, and theatre are the materials, and the client's own story is the subject.
Bespoke is a sequence, not a transaction. Each stage builds on the last, and nothing is cut before it's understood.
We talk about the occasion, the story, and how you want to feel wearing it.
Sketches, cloth, and a pattern drafted to your measurements — yours alone.
The garment is constructed and refined on you, through as many fittings as it takes.
Hand-finished, pressed, and delivered — made to be worn for years, not seasons.
Maria's creative label carries the studio's forthcoming work: As I Am, a dance and activewear line and costume shop, and SylviaSylvester, bespoke gender-fluid suiting — alongside Softly, Softly, a docufantasy film she wrote, designed, and directed.
Consultations are by appointment, in studio or by video. Bring the occasion, the idea, or just the feeling — we'll find the garment from there.
